Lilian has a fierce temper that is easily provoked, but when she's not given a reason to be angry, she's actually quite nice. She likes to help people, but she's not naive, she knows how dangerous the world is, and she's adapted to become just as dangerous if she wants to be. She is very persuasive and generally gets what she wants. She sees the heroes as know-it-all goody-two-shoes, so she doesn't like to be associated with them, but she sees some villains acts as abhorrent so she doesn't want to be associated with them either.
Lilian mostly follows the law, but she likes to do what she calls "bending the rules". If there are loopholes in a law, she will find them. There are times when she will outright break a law, but these are rarely serious breaches, and when they are, she has a good reason. She hates extreme temperatures, but she loves rain, she also doesn't like the city very much, but it's the only place she knows very well, and thus the only place she feels safe. Lilian hates to feel unprepared, even though she knows that it's not possible for every eventuality in a situation.
Lilian is very proud and hates to be treated as less than an equal by anybody, even if they have more authority than she does. She also hates to be mistaken for her mother or to be labeled a villain because of her mother.

Pamela Isley, better known as Poison Ivy, met Charles Xavier when she was trying to reform. She had been doing pretty well for about three weeks, but she was still feeling those villain tendencies. She had heard of Professor X, so she went to him to see if he knew of a way that she could make those tendencies go away. Charles didn't know of any surefire quick ways to do such a thing, so he talked with Pamela about it and had her check in with him weekly, kind of like a psychologist. After about a month of this, they fell in love, and two months later, Lilian was conceived. However, a week later, Pamela heard that someone she knew was in town and she went to visit them. Her friend convinced her that being evil was more fun and much more profitable than being good. So Pamela became Poison Ivy once again, leaving Charles before either of them even knew that they were having a child.
Poison Ivy never told Charles that Lilian was his daughter, and most likely never will. Lilian grew up without a father, and her mother never told her who her father was, instead she instilled a hatred of him in her daughter, convincing her that her father had abandoned her because he didn't like her. Even though she believed her mother's lies about her father, Lilian didn't follow her mother's way of life. She didn't like the sight of death, and growing up with villains, she'd seen her share of it.
Now Lilian makes a living by being a spy for hire. She gets paid to find out secrets, which is something she's good at. Even when she can't use her abilities, she is often able to say the right things to get what she wants. She doesn't have a permanent home, but she often finds shelter in Gotham's parks at night, making plants grow to form a small tent for her to sleep in, sealing the entrance shut to deter those who would do her harm.

- Persuasive Pheromones: Like her mother, Lilian can cause others to do her bidding with a simple kiss. However, her powers are not as strong as her mother's, meaning that she can't make others go against their morals, and strong-willed people can easily break her hold over them. The pheromones wear off by themselves after about an hour. Lilian is generally incredibly reluctant to use this power.
- Telepathy: It takes her a while, but Lilian is able to read some people's thoughts. Again, this power is not as strong with her as it is with her parent she inherited it from. She must concentrate to do this, which makes it useless if she doesn't have enough time, but she can use it to help her know what not to do if she wants to keep someone under her control.
- Plant Control: Lilian's most used power, she is able to make plants grow or die at will. She is also able to make plants move the ways she wants them to. This is the one power that she is able to use just as well as her parent she inherited it from.

- Fire: Fire is poison to Orchid. If she were to be burnt by a flame, the chemicals in her blood would react violently, causing her to go into cardiac arrest. She would die within minutes.
- Cold: Extreme cold makes Lilian unable to use her plant control and Persuasiveness. It is thought to have something to do with how most plants die in the cold.
- Other Telepaths: Because of her weak telepathy, Orchid's mind is constantly open to attack by other telepaths and her mental defenses are easily breached. She is also unable to come up with new defenses while another telepath is infiltrating her mind.

- Karate: Though she hasn't officially taken lessons, Lilian has taught herself karate, and she considers herself a black belt, even though an actual black belt could take her down easily.
- French: Orchid knows a little bit of French, though she would find it extremely difficult to have a conversation with a French person.
